The main responsibilities for the Portions Sealing Machine Minder will include:

  • Make sure the Proseal/Bizerba machines in the sealing room run correctly when packaging retail products.
  • Doing the required paperwork.
  • Following procedures.
  • Product quality is everyone's responsibility, and the highest standards of quality must be maintained throughout all stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Carrying out tasks in line with documented procedures and ensuring the products that we produce meet customer specifications.
  • Consistently referring to the relevant customer specification sheets to ensure that the portions/products that are being packed are in accordance with the agreed weight and size parameters and that there are no visible quality issues with the product e.g. excessive bruising, poor cutting standards, bone fragments, or excess fat.
  • Identifying and reporting any product defects or deviations to specifications and removing those products from the line.
  • Conducting a root cause analysis to help identify what caused the quality issue.
  • Coaching others to ensure they fully understand and adhere to the relevant customer specification sheets.

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Highly literate and numerate.
  • Flexible in approach to working and able to prioritise tasks accordingly.
  • Reasonable standard of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to respond calmly to unplanned events.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Work well in a pressurised environment and be committed to meeting targets/deadlines.
