The Role
We are looking for a Buyer to join our Group Procurement team, with responsibility for buying feed raw materials used across all our feed mills. This is a development role, designed for someone who is ready to grow into a feed commodities expert over time, with increasing responsibility as experience and capability build. You will work as part of a collaborative team, in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Initially you will manage a smaller area of spend, with the opportunity to take on larger and more complex categories as you develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop towards becoming a feed commodities buyer expert
- Buy raw materials for use across our UK feed mills
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and relevant Group companies to fully understand business needs
- Build and manage relationships with suppliers and customers
- Track commodity pricing, global market movements and manage risk
- Use data and market insight to support commercial and business objectives
- Contract negotiation and ongoing supplier management
- Develop a strong understanding of agricultural supply chains and trading dynamics
- Adapt responsibilities as markets evolve and team priorities change
About You
- Some experience within agriculture, ideally involving buying, trading or merchant activity
- Understanding of agricultural markets, crops and commodity trading dynamics
- Experience or exposure to buying or trading environments, with awareness of how contracts work
- Comfortable using excel, working with complex data to understand pricing, risk and market positions
- An appreciation of operating at scale within a large, complex organisation
- Curious, commercially minded and keen to develop into a category specialist
- 3 years' experience in the industry (flexible depending on capability)
