About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Hygiene Manager to join our team at our soups and sauces manufacturing site. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining the highest hygiene and food safety standards across a 24-hour operation. The position is primarily day-based; however, there will be an expectation to support night operations when required. Given the nature of the site, approximately 80% of hygiene activity oversight will relate to night shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage hygiene standards across a 24/7 production environment
- Oversee hygiene operations on both day and night shifts, ensuring consistency and compliance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve hygiene systems and procedures
- Create and manage swab programmes and environmental monitoring plans
- Liaise with laboratory teams and lead investigations where results fall outside acceptable limits
- Ensure full understanding and application of high-risk and high-care standards
- Manage and optimise CIP (Clean-In-Place) systems, ensuring effective automated cleaning processes
- Take ownership of PPE management, including availability, compliance, and maintenance
- Manage pest control contracts, including routine visits, reporting, and corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives relating to hygiene and food safety
About You
- Proven experience in a hygiene management role within food manufacturing
- Experience working in soups, sauces, or liquid-based production environments is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of high-risk and high-care food production environments
- Hands-on experience with CIP systems and automated cleaning processes
- Ability to develop and manage hygiene systems independently
- Strong analytical skills with experience in investigations and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to support night operations when required
