We currently have exciting opportunities for Maintenance Assistant to join Site B team in West Bromwich.
The hours of work and shift patterns are:
- Sunday 6:00 - 16:00
- Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 22:00
The rates of pay are: £14.93.
Main Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the GMO will provide general maintenance and fabrication support across the site, ensuring internal and external areas of the factory are safe, functional, and well-maintained in accordance with food safety and health and safety standards.
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks across the factory (internal and external), including fabrication, carpentry, painting, and minor plumbing.
- Perform light fabrication tasks on metal fixtures, safety barriers, guards, and structural supports as required.
- Support engineering and production teams by responding promptly to maintenance requests.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in line with health and safety, environmental, hygiene, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in good working condition.
- Assist with site improvements, installations, and modifications.
- Conduct routine inspections of plant areas to identify and rectify minor faults or deterioration.
- Liaise with the Engineering Manager to prioritise workload and report progress or issues.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in a general maintenance role (preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial environment).
- Competent in basic fabrication, plumbing, and general repairs.
- City & Guilds level 2 or equivalent qualifications in plumbing, carpentry or building would be advantageous.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, environment, and food hygiene standards.
- Level 2 H&S and Food Safety.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Good standard of spoken & written English which will allow written instructions to be read & effectively communicated.
