About the role

Engineering Apprentices will be based full‑time at our Poultry site located at Sandycroft. You will work a two‑week rota: one week Monday‑Friday 8 am‑4 pm and one week Tuesday‑Saturday 8 am‑4 pm, with one day per week at Coleg Cambria. You will receive on‑site training in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering and fault‑finding, and support the engineering team with general duties.

Key responsibilities

• Support the engineering team with on‑site tasks and general duties.
• Carry out fault‑finding and adjustment of machines to maintain operating standards.
• Attend scheduled training and college days as part of your apprenticeship programme.
• Work independently to apply learned skills and make real decisions.

Training and learning focus

You will be trained to a very high standard in the following areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Automation Engineering
  • Fault‑finding skills
  • Adjustment and setting of machines to a good operating standard

Apprenticeship details

• Permanent contract for 24 months.
• Commencement date September 2026.
• Level 2 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualification.

Applicants should possess:

  • Excellent fault‑finding skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Flexible, proactive attitude and enthusiasm to take on work.

Eligibility criteria

• 5 GCSEs at grades A‑C/9‑4, including English and Maths.
• Full UK driving licence preferable but not essential.
• Real passion for food and engineering.
