About the Role
The Bakery Operations Manager will lead operations across the entire factory, working cross-functionally with quality, safety, engineering, and production teams to ensure smooth operations and delivery of top-quality products. With responsibility for 3 direct reports (Shift Managers) and a total team of 60, you'll be hands-on in driving continuous improvement, managing risk assessments, ensuring compliance, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full bakery operations, ensuring products meet quality and cost standards
- Manage and support 3 x Shift Managers to ensure consistent performance across 24-hour operations
- Lead risk assessments, training, and accident investigations
- Ensure quality issues are fully resolved and continuous improvement initiatives are implemented
- Build a culture of accountability, holding teams to high performance standards
About You
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong operational leader with bakery experience, excellent managerial skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. You'll need to be confident in managing large teams, driving operational excellence, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong managerial experience with the ability to lead and challenge teams
- Experience managing a large workforce (40-60 people on shift)
- Bakery or food production background essential
- Proven track record in continuous improvement
- Auditing experience and customer-facing skills
- Level 3 Food Safety and IOSH qualification (NEBOSH preferred)
