We have a position for Overnight Maintenance Operative. This post is working Overnight Monday-Friday. The hours of work are: 22:00pm-06:00am. Competitive rate of pay.
Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with the site maintenance schedule.
- Undertake mechanical maintenance and basic electrical fault-finding on poultry slaughtering and processing equipment.
- Strip down, service, and reassemble equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and food safety requirements.
- Ensure all work equipment complies with the provision and use of work equipment regulations 1998.
- Work in accordance with LOLER 1998 where lifting equipment is involved.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Adhere to the welfare of animal at the time of killing (England) Regulations 2015.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including maintenance logs and permits to work.
- Identify recurring faults and suggest improvements.
- Participate in mandatory training, toolbox talks, and audits.
Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent level of English.

- A good communicator, both written and verbal.
Qualifications essential:
- Maintenance or engineering experience in food manufacturing or poultry/meat processing.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislations.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
- Good level of spoken and written English.
Desirable:
- Experience in an English Poultry slaughterhouse or abattoir.
- Basic electrical qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with FSA inspections.
- Experience with conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
