About the Role
This role is responsible for managing the permit-to-work process, ensuring all contractor and engineering activities are carried out safely, legally, and in accordance with site procedures. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, visitors, and site management to maintain compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements while supporting the efficient delivery of maintenance and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain, prepare, write, and issue permits to work for a variety of maintenance, engineering, and contractor activities.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are in place.
- Conduct risk assessments where required to support safe working practices.
- Prepare and submit all necessary permit documentation, including insurance details, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Liaise with engineers, contractors, and visitors to coordinate work activities and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
- Monitor work activities on site and carry out regular reviews to ensure adherence to legislative requirements and internal health and safety policies.
- Provide guidance and support regarding permit requirements and safe systems of work.
- Close and sign off permits upon completion of works, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and filed in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate permit records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Skills and Experience
- Good understanding of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and health and safety legislation.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications and document management systems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
