Here at 2 Sisters Food Group in Scunthorpe we don’t waste a thing! Our main products are whole chickens and portions (breast, drumsticks, wings, etc), but we also make use of everything else that is produced throughout our processes via our by-products plant. Due to an increase in demand, we now have 3 permanent, full-time vacancies for By-product Plant Operatives.
The By-product plant, or Protein Plant as it’s commonly called, is where we process all by-products from the main manufacturing facility ready for despatch. By-products from the main process include feathers, feet, innards and blood. Many of the by-products are utilised for animal consumption and others are used as part of the process for creating bio-fuels. By-products are transported around site in Dolavs utilising electric pallet trucks and counterbalance FLTs. By-products are then loaded in the trailers ready for despatch. Operatives will utilise the shunter wagon (when trained) to rotate and prepare trailers for despatch, completing all required paperwork. The Protein Plant team is small; hence reliability is key, all holidays are covered by the team, strong teamworking skills are a must! The team operates on 3 rotating shifts: 05:45-13:45, Monday – Saturday (Saturday 05:45-14:30), 21:45-05:45, Monday - Friday, 13:45-21:45, Monday - Friday.
A good work ethic is essential, the team is small and always busy, so we need someone that is not going to let their colleagues down. There is a requirement to complete some paperwork so basic literacy (in English) and numeracy is a must. Other essential knowledge, skills and experience required are:
- Experience of working in a Manufacturing, Warehousing / Distribution environment.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Quality conscious, must be able to maintain a great quality standard.
- Problem solving skills.
- Counterbalance Forklift License.
- Full Driving License (to enable shunter training).
This is not an exhaustive list, candidates are advised to review the attached Job Description before applying.
What’s in it for you? Other than a great pay rate of £16.00 per hour! We are offering an excellent training package, with many opportunities for in-house training along with externally supplied qualifications and support, to help drive your career forward, including, but not limited to a shunter licence. Other benefits include:
- A subsidised company bus service (7 pickup locations across Ashby & Scunthorpe).
- Refer a friend scheme (£100).
- Subsidised and recently upgraded canteen (hot meals from £1.60).
- Free onsite parking.
- Seasonal events and family fun days.
- Great discounts from a number of different sources (up to 50% off), details in the link.
