The Position

We’re on the lookout for a talented Java Developer to join our innovative team in Brighton. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our Java-based applications that power our popular games. But there’s more – this role offers the chance to expand your expertise into new areas, such as GoLang and microservices, making it ideal for a developer eager to grow and innovate.

Responsibilities

1. Develop & Innovate: Build and maintain high-quality Java applications while exploring opportunities to work with GoLang and microservices architecture.
2. Collaborate & Create: Partner with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, framework engineers, and other departments, to design and implement new features that enhance our gaming platforms.
3. Write Quality Code: Ensure your code is well-designed, efficient, testable, and adheres to best practices.
4. Optimise Performance: Identify and resolve bottlenecks, and ensure our applications are scalable and performant.
5. Engage in Agile Processes: Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
6. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, gaining exposure to different technologies and approaches, ensuring that our projects benefit from diverse expertise and insights.
7. Innovative Projects: Contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of gaming technology. If you bring the desired knowledge and enthusiasm, you’ll have the chance to work on some of the most exciting and innovative projects in the industry.

Required Experience

1. Proven experience as a Java Developer, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role
2. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
3. Proficiency in Java SE (Standard Edition) and Java EE (Enterprise Edition)
4. Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or similar
5. Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services
6. Familiarity with SQL and databases such as MySQL
7. Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
8. Understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
9. Knowledge of or experience working with Golang
10. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS
11. Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes
12. Exposure to DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines
13. Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG
14. Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
