About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a modern, forward-thinking pathology service within a well-equipped hospital environment. Due to increasing workload and expanding cancer services, we are looking for a Consultant with specialist interests to complement the existing team. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality cellular pathology service, supporting clinicians, GPs, and wider healthcare teams, while contributing to multidisciplinary cancer care.
Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive cellular pathology service, including histopathology reporting
- Participate in and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Develop and maintain specialist interests (e.g. urology, skin, GI, or breast pathology)
- Support clinical decision-making through accurate and timely diagnosis
- Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and audit
- Participate in on-call duties (mainly advisory for police cases)
- Support training and development of Biomedical Scientists and other staff
- Engage in CPD, appraisal, and revalidation processes

Requirements
- FRCPath (or equivalent)
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise (or eligibility within 6 months)
- CCT (or within 6 months) or equivalent experience
- Strong general histopathology experience
- Specialist interest in at least two areas (e.g. GI, breast, urology, skin)
- Experience working within MDT environments
