Here at 1st Step, we are working with an established electrical contractor based in the South West who are in need of an experienced Solar PV & Renewables Engineer/Manager to lead the delivery and development of renewable energy projects, including Solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking electrical contractor expanding into the renewables sector. Initially, you\’ll take a hands-on hybrid role, balancing time between the office, site surveys, and managing installations. As the renewables division grows, your role will evolve into a leadership and management position, driving strategic growth and overseeing larger teams.
This role is perfect for a motivated individual who thrives in both hands-on technical work and strategic leadership. You\’ll play a key role in shaping the future of a growing renewables team and have the chance to make a real impact on the region\’s transition to clean energy. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, planning, and execution of Solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging projects.
Conduct site surveys, system design, and client quotations.
Supervise installation teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Ensure compliance with MCS, NICEIC, and health & safety regulations.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert advice and ongoing support.
Identify and develop new business opportunities to grow the renewables division.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
Requirements:
Proven experience in Solar PV and renewable energy projects.
Strong technical understanding of battery storage and related technologies.
Relevant electrical qualifications, including 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, and Solar PV/EES certifications.
In-depth knowledge of MCS and NICEIC standards.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
A commercial mindset with the ability to grow a business unit.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally.
Package:
Salary: Β£40,000 – Β£50,000 depending on experience.
