1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading UK mechanical engineering company who have an opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join their team in East Suffolk. The successful candidate will provide site-based supervisory support across multiple projects, predominantly along the M4/M5 corridor. The role will involve working closely with the Project Managers and site teams to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of HVAC&R projects. This position would suit an experienced HVAC&R Engineer or Supervisor looking to develop their career, with the opportunity to progress into project management. Duties: Provide effective supervisory support to the Contracts team to assist with the accurate and timely delivery of projects. Responsible for site set-ups, Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), health and safety inspections and required weekly site walk rounds. Deliver toolbox talks and site briefings as required. Provide hands-on site assistance with coordination, clashes and weekly planning to ensure site labour can work productively. Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and other trades to assist with day-to-day coordination. Request and organise material and equipment deliveries, ensuring items arrive on site as planned. Act as an additional on-site point of contact for clients. Monitor labour requirements and ensure the correct labour levels are on the right projects at the right times, liaising with the Project Manager as required. Manage the successful completion of required contract documentation, including commissioning documentation, before site teams complete works. Witness commissioning activities and assist with the investigation and resolution of any shortfalls or problems identified. Proactively arrange and attend customer and site meetings to provide updates and ensure project requirements are being met. Manage own workload and diary to ensure allocated projects receive the required level of site support. Drive continual improvement in the delivery of projects, identifying and raising opportunities to improve site processes and working practices. Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records within Procore, including site photographs, inspection sheets, toolbox talks, health and safety records and other relevant project documentation. Ensure site records are uploaded to Procore regularly and clearly recorded against the relevant project. As the role develops, take responsibility for the management and delivery of small works as part of progression into project management.Quality Responsibilities Check installations against approved drawings, specifications and manufacturers’ instructions. Inspect materials and equipment on delivery, including correct storage and protection. Implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including required inspections, witness points and hold points. Arrange, witness and record pipework cut-out inspections, joint tests and weld inspections where specified. Verify pressure, leak and drainage tests are completed and recorded. Check service routes, sizes, falls, supports, fixings and allowances for movement. Inspect ductwork installations, including cleanliness, sealing and leakage testing. Check electrical containment, cabling, terminations, earthing and testing records. Inspect insulation, vapour barriers, fire stopping and service identification. Confirm adequate access is provided for the operation, maintenance and replacement of plant and equipment.Qualifications / Experience SMSTS – essential. Relevant CSCS / skill card. Minimum of 5 years HVAC&R site experience, including experience as a Lead Engineer on a project. Strong practical knowledge of HVAC&R installations. Capable of hands-on problem solving with the ability to identify practical Confident using IT systems and mobile devices for site reporting and record keeping. Good knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental requirements.Desirable Experience Candidates should have experience working with one or more of the following Mechanical disciplines: Ventilation Electrical Air Conditioning Refrigeration Heating / Plumbing
