1st Step Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Building Services contractor, for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support tendering activity across a range of mechanical projects.

Location: Hybrid / Shrewsbury Head Office + Client Sites

Salary: Circa £53k to £60k package

This role will see you preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical building services works, working closely with the Design & Estimating team to support successful project delivery.

The Role

  • Prepare detailed mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications
  • Price labour, materials and plant in line with tender strategy
  • Build prelims, risk allowances and value engineering options
  • Issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors and analyse quotations
  • Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions and assumptions
  • Support tender submissions and provide a clear handover to delivery teams
  • Work collaboratively with estimators, designers and commercial teams

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience estimating within Mechanical Building Services
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, LTHW/CHW systems, public health and mechanical installations
  • Experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions
  • Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases
  • HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • Willingness to travel to client and prospect sites when required
