1st Step Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Building Services contractor, for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support tendering activity across a range of mechanical projects.
Location: Hybrid / Shrewsbury Head Office + Client Sites
Salary: Circa £53k to £60k package
This role will see you preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical building services works, working closely with the Design & Estimating team to support successful project delivery.
The Role
- Prepare detailed mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Price labour, materials and plant in line with tender strategy
- Build prelims, risk allowances and value engineering options
- Issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors and analyse quotations
- Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions and assumptions
- Support tender submissions and provide a clear handover to delivery teams
- Work collaboratively with estimators, designers and commercial teams
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience estimating within Mechanical Building Services
- Strong understanding of HVAC, LTHW/CHW systems, public health and mechanical installations
- Experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions
- Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases
- HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
- Willingness to travel to client and prospect sites when required
