Overview
Our client is a leading M&E contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-value, complex building services projects across the UK. They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Senior Project Manager to join their team and work alongside the Mechanical Operations Manager on a major M&E project in the South West. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leadership role on a prestigious scheme and play a key part in its successful delivery.
Role Summary
In this role, you will manage part of the project, supply, and design teams, taking a central role on-site while working closely with clients, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders. You will provide technical expertise in MEP systems, including cold and dry rooms, and oversee all aspects of design and construction management, from procurement and installation to commissioning and handover. This includes evaluating proposals from the supply chain to ensure suitability and best value, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and reporting on project schedules and deliverables. You will also lead and support team members, assigning responsibilities, and may occasionally be required to work outside regular hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Tendering and procurement of the MEP packages
- Management of all aspects of the MEP subcontractors works from tender stage through to project completion
- Planning of the works including design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover phases in line with company procedures
- Commercial management – execution of the MEP subcontractors contract, management of the variation account or input as required for the project surveyor to achieve the same
- Ensuring that company procedures are fully implemented on each project
- Undertaking monthly project audits in line with company procedures
- Monitoring the works and undertake regular subcontractors progress meetings
- Undertaking any safety training as required to fulfil the job role and carry out site duties
- Working with the MEP director as necessary to assist in the development of procedures and best practices both internally and with our MEP supply chain
- Ensuring that works are undertaken in a safe manor in line with company practice, current legislation and good practices, review method statements and risk assessments and undertake regular site safety observations
Requirements

- MEP systems commissioning knowledge

- NEC standard forms of contract
- HNC or Level 4 NVQ in building services engineering and/or a degree in building services engineering
- Minimum 5 Day SMSTS course and appropriate CSCS manager skill card
- An understanding of design management, including principal designer, MEPH and other design partners
- Experience of working closely with client and building teams to delivery of the scheme
- Experienced in playing a leading role on projects from preconstruction through to successful delivery and completion
- Knowledge DfMA and have previous experience in its use on previous projects
