1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Electrical Estimator on a permanent basis based in Northampton.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for MEP projects ranging from 500k to 20m+Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirementsLiaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams during pre-construction phasesIdentify risks, exclusions, and opportunities to add value within the estimating processAttend tender review meetings and provide detailed breakdowns and justificationsBuild and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners for accurate pricing and lead timesParticipate in value engineering exercises and alternative proposalsEnsure compliance with current industry regulations, technical standards, and health & safety expectationsContribute to post-tender negotiations and project handovers to delivery teams

Skills & AttributesExcellent attention to detail and numerical accuracyStrong analytical and organisational skillsClear and confident communication (written and verbal)Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneouslyQualifications & ExperienceProven experience in electrical estimating within the building services or MEP sectorIdeally HNC/HND or degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services EngineeringExperience with estimation softwareCompetent in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications
