1st Step Solutions are supporting a well established Tier 1 M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Building Services Manager to be based on an education project on Isle of Wight.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in building services management, particularly within the commercial sector or similar related projects with values up to £20 million.

Duties:

  • Reviewing installation plans and specifications to ensure that they deliver what the building/client needs.
  • Advising the design team on the co-ordination of services within the overall building design, for example, advice on how much space is needed above the ceilings to accommodate ventilation systems and other services.
  • Reviewing prices for services work.
  • Testing and checking installations.
  • Making sure jobs meet building regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Attending meetings and presenting ideas and progress reports to managers and clients.
  • Advising clients on how the building services will operate once the building is complete.
  • Helping to protect the environment by keeping energy wastage to a minimum within the building services.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • An industry relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above.
  • SMSTS.
  • CSCS Skill Card - Black Card desirable.
  • Ability to influence and drive positive attitudes and behaviours with regards to site health and safety.
  • Experience dealing with mechanical sub-contractors.
  • IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Will need to be able to understand building services including design principles, method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, commissioning, and handover requirements.
