1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for an Electrical Estimator on a permanent basis based in Northampton.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for MEP projects ranging from Β£500k to Β£20m+
- Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams during pre-construction phases
- Identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities to add value within the estimating process
- Attend tender review meetings and provide detailed breakdowns and justifications
- Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners for accurate pricing and lead times
- Participate in value engineering exercises and alternative proposals
- Ensure compliance with current industry regulations, technical standards, and health & safety expectations
- Contribute to post-tender negotiations and project handovers to delivery teams
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Clear and confident communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in electrical estimating within the building services or MEP sector
- Ideally HNC/HND or degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Experience with estimation software
- Competent in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications
