In-Home Tuition | Up to £30 per hour | Flexible Hours | September Start

Are you passionate about helping young people rediscover their confidence in learning? 1st Staff are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutor to support students in the Bridport area who have been out of education for a period of time. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping students rebuild their confidence, develop key skills, and work towards recognised qualifications — with the potential to return to mainstream or further education.

The Role

You will deliver personalised tuition sessions in the student’s home, tailoring your approach to meet individual learning needs and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, bespoke 1:1 sessions
  • Support students in core subjects (Maths, English, and other key areas as required)
  • Build positive, trusting relationships
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning styles
  • Support students with SEN, SEMH, and challenging behaviours

Position Details

  • Location: Student’s home & local library
  • Role: 1:1 Tutor
  • Hours: 2/3 hours per day, 5 days per week (during school hours) per student
  • Flexible start times
  • Additional hours available
  • Start Date: September

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with SEN/SEMH students and managing challenging behaviours
  • Ability to deliver core subjects tailored to individual needs
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills
  • Own transport beneficial but not essential
