A highways and utilities contractor is seeking an experienced NRSWA Street Works Supervisor to oversee multiple roadworks sites across Greater Manchester on a 6‑month temporary basis. You will be responsible for ensuring all street works are planned, managed and completed safely, on time and in full compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise multiple road and street works sites, ensuring safe systems of work are in place.
- Monitor operatives’ work, including excavation, reinstatement and traffic management, to NRSWA standards.
- Check and maintain correct signing, lighting and guarding at all times.
- Liaise with local authorities, utilities and internal teams regarding permits, notices and inspections.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and quality checks, addressing any non‑conformances.
- Keep accurate records, documentation and daily reports for each site.
Requirements:
- Valid NRSWA Street Works Supervisor qualification (S‑units) – essential.
- Proven experience supervising street works / highways / utilities roadworks.
- Strong knowledge of NRSWA, Chapter 8 and general site health & safety.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites in Greater Manchester.
- Able to commit to a full‑time, site‑based role from January for at least 6 months.
