1st Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with one of Jersey's leading law firms in the search for an experienced Jersey Advocate or Jersey Écrivain to lead its highly regarded Wills & Probate Department.

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an ambitious and technically strong legal professional with significant experience in Jersey wills, probate and estate planning matters.
As Head of Department, you will lead a team of lawyers and legal assistants whilst managing a varied and complex caseload for a broad range of local and international clients.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex wills, probate and estate administration matters.
- Advising on estate planning, succession arrangements and lasting powers of attorney.
- Advising local and international clients, including non-domiciliaries, on Jersey law wills and estates matters.
- Supervising and mentoring a team of lawyers and legal assistants.
- Maintaining oversight of departmental caseloads and client relationships.
- Supporting the Partners in delivering strategic growth objectives and departmental KPIs.
- Driving business development initiatives and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.
- Enhancing the profile and reputation of the department through professional networking and market engagement.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- Qualified Jersey Advocate or Jersey Écrivain status.
- Approximately 5 to 10 years' PQE.
- Extensive experience advising on Jersey wills, probate and estate administration matters.
- Strong technical knowledge of Jersey succession law and probate procedures.
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- A commercial mindset with a genuine passion for client service and business development.
