1st Reaction Security Ltd is looking for an, adaptable and reliable Relief Security Officer to join our operational team.
This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across different environments.
As a Dedicated Relief Officer, you’ll provide essential operational cover across our contracts, supporting our Mobile Patrol, Control Room and Static Guarding teams.
You’ll work across a variety of sites, helping to maintain service during annual leave, sickness, emergency deployments and increased operational needs.
We’re looking for someone who can quickly adapt to new environments, work confidently on their own or as part of a team, and always maintain the highest standards.
- Hours of Work
- A mixture of day shifts, night shifts and weekend working
- Bank Holiday, including Christmas day, working will be required
- Additional overtime opportunities will regularly available
Due to the nature of this role, flexibility is essential.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing relief cover across static guarding, mobile patrol and Control Room operations.
- Responding to alarm activations and emergency call-outs.
- Carrying out internal and external mobile patrols.
- Completing scheduled lock-ups and unlocks.
- Monitoring CCTV systems and responding to incidents where appropriately licensed.
- Dispatching and supporting Alarm Response Officers when working within the Control Room.
- Conducting lone worker welfare checks.
- Managing access control, visitor management and gatehouse duties.
- Completing accurate incident reports, occurrence logs and electronic patrol records.
- Providing a professional and visible security presence across a wide range of client sites.
- Liaising with clients, emergency services and the Control Room to ensure the safe and effective delivery of security services.
- Following Assignment Instructions, company procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
- Up to 28 days’ annual leave, increasing with length of service

- Valid Front-Line SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
- A valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
- Confident driving company vehicles in both day and night conditions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Good IT skills and the ability to complete electronic reports.
- Full five-year checkable employment and education history in accordance with BS 7858.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Professional, reliable and flexible approach to work.
About You
You’re someone who enjoys variety and thrives in different working environments.
You’ll be equally comfortable working in a busy Control Room, carrying out mobile patrols, or providing a professional presence on a static security assignment.
You’ll be dependent, adaptable and willing to travel between sites at short notice when operational requirements demand it.
Previous experience in mobile patrols, alarm response, CCTV monitoring or Control Room operations would be desirable, although full training will be provided where required.
