An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement and Category Management professional to join a large, complex public sector organisation undergoing significant transformation. As the function continues to embed a category-led approach aligned to a long term 2030 strategy, this role offers the chance to shape and influence how procurement delivers strategic value across Estates, Commercial Services, Business Services and IT.

With responsibility for £100m to £120m of non-pay expenditure, the team plays a critical role in driving value for money, supporting capital and revenue programmes, and championing sustainability and equality initiatives. This is a high visibility position within a forward thinking organisation where procurement is recognised as a strategic enabler, not a back-office function.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead category management activity across key business pillars, aligning plans to organisational strategy
  • Develop, implement and continuously review category strategies and sourcing plans
  • Deliver end to end tender processes, from market engagement through to contract award
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to ensure commercial and service outcomes are achieved
  • Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders, building strong internal partnerships and securing buy in
  • Ensure compliance with UK public procurement regulations and governance requirements
  • Contribute to the delivery of sustainability, social value and equality objectives through procurement activity
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in UK public sector procurement and category management
  • Strong understanding of public procurement regulations and compliant sourcing routes (PCR2015 / PA23)
  • Experience managing complex procurements within multi stakeholder environments
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver end to end tenders and manage contracts effectively
  • Highly organised, self motivated and able to manage competing priorities with confidence
