An exciting interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Commercial Officer to join a high-profile government programme delivering critical technology and service capabilities within a complex and fast-paced environment.

This role sits within a strategic commercial function responsible for shaping procurement strategies, delivering complex procurements, and ensuring commercial excellence across a significant transformation portfolio.

The Role

As a Senior Commercial Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of commercial strategies for technology and service-based procurements. You'll work closely with stakeholders across a major government programme, helping to drive successful procurement outcomes while ensuring compliance with public sector regulations and best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of commercial and procurement strategies
  • Lead and contribute to procurement activities for technology solutions and professional services
  • Develop procurement plans and monitor delivery against key milestones
  • Manage RAID logs, risks and actions, utilising JIRA and other portfolio management tools
  • Provide commercial advice and support throughout the procurement lifecycle
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, wider government departments and industry partners
  • Support contract management activities and ensure commercial governance requirements are met

Requirements

  • Strong procurement and contract management experience within the public sector
  • Sound knowledge of Public Contract Regulations (PCR) and public procurement processes
  • Broad commercial experience across multiple procurement categories and contract types
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities within complex programme environments
  • Strong organisational, planning and reporting capabilities

Note: Due to the sensitive nature of this role, candidates are required to already hold, or be able to secure and maintain, valid SC Clearance.
