Role Description The Client Manager (Accountancy Practice) is a full-time, on-site role based in Sunderland. This role involves managing a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact, and ensuring that accounts, tax returns, and statutory filings are prepared accurately and delivered on time. The Client Manager will oversee day-to-day client work including reviewing bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and CIS submissions, and coordinating with internal teams to deliver comprehensive outsourcing services. Responsibilities include advising clients on accounting, tax, and business matters, identifying opportunities to improve processes or efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role also involves maintaining strong client relationships, supporting business development through referrals and cross-selling services, and contributing to continuous improvement within the practice.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong accounting and taxation skills, with experience in preparing accounts for sole traders, limited companies, partnerships, charities, and other entities.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency in cloud-based and desktop accounting software, ideally including systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Kashflow, and FreeAgent.
  • Candidates should possess client management and relationship-building skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and provide practical business advice.
  • Candidates should possess organizational and time management skills to handle multiple client deadlines, ensure accuracy, and maintain high service standards.
  • Candidates should possess problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and support business decision-making.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) or substantial practice experience are highly beneficial.
  • Experience within an accountancy practice environment and familiarity with UK accounting and tax regulations are advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an office-based team, demonstrate integrity and confidentiality, and adapt to a fast-moving business environment is essential.
