Our client, a well-established engineering manufacturer, is seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a quality-focused organisation working on precision-engineered components within a continuous improvement environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC and manual machines within a production cell
- Work from engineering drawings, tool lists and set-up sheets
- Load and unload components safely using manual handling or lifting equipment
- Set CNC machines using programme setting sheets and multiple tooling stations
- Carry out first-off inspection and ongoing dimensional and visual checks
- Make offset adjustments to maintain component quality
- Support assembly operations where required
- Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and machine care
- Report machine or tooling defects to minimise downtime and scrap
- Contribute to continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives
- Liaise with engineering, quality and production teams to resolve technical issues
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC Turning, Milling or Mill/Turn machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Understanding of geometric tolerancing
- Experience using a range of engineering measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with a proactive attitude
- GCSE level education (or equivalent)
- Previous CNC machining experience
Working Pattern:
Normal working week: 37 hours
Day Shift: Monday–Thursday: 06:00 – 14:30 & Friday: 06:00 – 10:30
Late Shift: Monday–Thursday: 14:30 – 23:00 & Friday: 10:30 – 15:00
You’ll be required to work both shift patterns on an alternating basis. A 10% shift premium is payable when working the late shift Monday–Thursday only.
