Management Accountant – Project Major Infrastructure Delivery
Hybrid – 2-3 days in Peterborough Office
Hourly payrate: £28.60 ph
Are you an experienced accountant looking for a role where you can make a real impact on the future of major infrastructure delivery?
We’re looking for a Project Accountant to join our client’s Major Infrastructure Delivery team.
About the role
As a Management Accountant working on this Project, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and performance insight across our portfolio. Working alongside the Head of Finance and project teams, you’ll lead on planning, budgeting, and reporting for both CAPEX and OPEX, providing analysis that directly shapes decision-making.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how finance supports our client’s new Delivery Vehicle, embedding best practice, driving digital tools and automation, and coaching colleagues to deliver financial excellence.
This is a visible, high-impact role where you’ll act as a trusted advisor, building strong partnerships with commercial, cost management, and programme teams to ensure value-for-money delivery.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensuring compliance with financial controls, accounting standards, and internal policies
- Leading budget planning, forecasting, and financial reviews across projects
- Producing timely, insightful management reports and dashboards
- Partnering with stakeholders to provide clear financial guidance and challenge
- Supporting continuous improvement through automation and digital finance tools
- Coaching and mentoring colleagues while championing best practice
- Promoting a culture of integrity, innovation, and health & safety
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong project or management accounting experience, ideally in major projects or infrastructure
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn numbers into actionable insights
- Strong IT and systems knowledge, especially Excel and SAP
- Confident communicator, able to influence and engage both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable challenging assumptions to drive better outcomes
