We are looking for a reliable and hard-working kitchen assistant to support a busy kitchen team in the SO31 area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent attention to detail, and understands the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety. You will be working in an environment that may support vulnerable people, so a caring, respectful, and professional approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic food preparation as directed by the kitchen team.
- Support the chef and kitchen staff with daily kitchen duties.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Keep the kitchen, food preparation areas, and storage areas clean and tidy.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
- Help with receiving and storing deliveries correctly.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and completed.
- Report any concerns, hazards, or equipment issues to the appropriate person.
- Work respectfully around residents, staff, and visitors.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or in a similar catering/kitchen role is preferred.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and hard-working.
- A professional and respectful attitude when working in a care or healthcare environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends where required.
