Looking for a Registered Manager role where you can lead a children’s home properly, shape the culture and make a real difference to young people? We are recruiting for a Registered Manager to lead Autumn House, a children’s residential home in Slough. The home supports young people aged 11 to 17 in a structured, child-focused environment. This role needs someone who can balance care, compliance, leadership and day-to-day decision making.

The role

As Registered Manager, you will take responsibility for the operational leadership and day-to-day running of the home. You will make sure the home remains compliant with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations. You will lead the staff team, promote a safeguarding-first culture, maintain strong records and ensure young people receive safe, consistent and trauma-informed care.

Main duties

  • Lead the day-to-day running of the children’s residential home.
  • Keep the home safe, structured, compliant and child-focused.
  • Promote strong safeguarding practice across the home.
  • Maintain Ofsted readiness and lead on inspection preparation.
  • Complete audits, Regulation 45 reports and quality assurance checks.
  • Lead, supervise and develop the staff team.
  • Oversee care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and records.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, families, professionals and stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced children’s residential professional who is ready to lead with confidence, consistency and care. You will need to be organised, emotionally resilient and comfortable managing both people and compliance. Just as importantly, you need to understand how to create a home where young people feel safe, supported and listened to. This role would suit an experienced Deputy Manager, Registered Manager or strong children’s residential leader ready for the next step.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children in a residential setting.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory, deputy or management role.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to complete.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Confident understanding of safeguarding, child protection and Ofsted frameworks.
  • Able to lead, supervise and develop a staff team.
  • Strong written communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Enhanced DBS check required, or willingness to complete one.

Desirable

  • Previous Ofsted registration as a Registered Manager.
  • Experience supporting a children’s home to achieve Good or Outstanding.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, PACE or DDP.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
