The 1922 Clothing Company is an established short lead supplier to the UK high street and online retailers, specializing in menswear and boys wear shirts and jersey from classic to high fashion designs. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop skills within a secure company whilst working in a modern and well-equipped office space. The office is a multi-cultural and friendly environment with a great team feeling.

We are looking for an enthusiastic boys wear/menswear designer to work across jersey and shirt products. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for interpreting fashion trends and designing to suit our customer base. You will design and contribute to the constant development and co-ordination of new product ranges, to satisfy market key trends and customer needs, offering innovation and fresh approaches to design.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design of current Boys and Men's fashion ranges to present to clients.
  • Identify and understand clients' brand identity and handwriting when designing and range building.
  • Sourcing of fabric and trims.
  • Produce detailed technical packs for accurate first-time samples.
  • Carry out trend research and analysis alongside colour trends.
Person Requirements:
  • Liaising with factories and mills.
  • Building strong relationships with buyers.
  • Supporting team members with day-to-day administrative needs.
  • Previous experience designing menswear jersey/shirts - minimum 2 years.
  • Additional experience on other product areas would be advantageous.
  • Some experience working on graphics is desired.
  • Put together Design, Mood, Colour and Trend Boards.
  • Good understanding of fabrics, fabric manipulation, and fabric techniques.
  • Good understanding of commercial fashion.
  • Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of garment construction.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong CAD skills.
