We have a genuinely unique opportunity for an intelligent, adaptable and operationally minded individual with a passion for challenging environments, high-performance teams and non-traditional projects to work closely with a highly entrepreneurial principal on a number of early-stage initiatives.

The principal is a disarmingly witty former war correspondent with a background spanning journalism, defence and international affairs, and continues to operate at the intersection of media, policy and global security. He has an exceptional international network across military, political and security circles in the UK, US and beyond, and is now building out a portfolio of projects in start-up mode.

The immediate focus is the rollout of a London-based, and subsequently national, programme centred around physical fitness, resilience, first responder and rescue training. This role will play a key part in supporting the development, coordination and delivery of these programmes, working across a range of stakeholders including specialist contractors, government-adjacent organisations and wider networks.

This is a hands-on and varied position, suited to someone who enjoys building from the ground up and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, evolving environment. The successful candidate will bring strong organisational ability alongside energy, initiative and a genuine interest in high-performance or capability-led environments.

While the role would suit individuals with backgrounds in performance sport, military, emergency services or adventurous travel, this is not a prerequisite. More important is a mindset aligned with teamwork, resilience, physical capability and a willingness to get involved.

Initial projects are due to commence in early June, with further rollout planned throughout the year. This role is likely to begin on a part-time or flexible basis, with scope to grow as projects develop. There may be opportunities for travel, including potentially to more challenging environments, although this is not a requirement.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of something genuinely different, working alongside a highly connected and intellectually driven individual, with real scope to shape and grow the role over time. Given the nature of the position, there is flexibility around structure, working patterns and long-term development.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Supporting the development and rollout of training and programme-based initiatives across London and nationally, with the opportunity to be involved in performance-led or physically focused environments where relevant
  • Coordinating multiple workstreams to ensure projects are delivered effectively and to a high standard, ideally bringing experience from fast-paced or team-based settings
  • Liaising with contractors, specialist providers and relevant stakeholders to facilitate programme delivery, with any prior exposure to specialist, technical or operational environments being advantageous
  • Assisting with the organisation and execution of training sessions, events and group-based activities, particularly where these involve structured programmes or performance-driven outcomes
  • Supporting engagement with government-adjacent bodies, partners and wider networks, with any familiarity or interest in these environments considered beneficial
  • Acting as a central point of coordination across different areas of activity, ensuring visibility and progress across a broad and evolving scope
  • Contributing to the setup and scaling of new initiatives in a start-up environment, where an interest in building programmes or communities would be valuable
  • Supporting the principal with operational and project-based requirements as needed, with scope to gain exposure to a wide variety of workstreams
  • Assisting with the development of future programmes, including potential international projects and travel, particularly suited to those with an interest in adventure or experiential environments
  • Taking ownership of ad hoc projects in a dynamic and evolving environment, where a proactive and hands-on approach is key

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience operating in a fast-paced start-up, project-based or entrepreneurial environment
  • High levels of adaptability and comfort working in a non-traditional, evolving role
  • An interest in adventure, travel or resilience-based environments would be well suited to the nature of the role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to take ownership and drive progress
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong judgement and the ability to operate independently
  • A background or strong interest in elite sport, performance, training or physically demanding environments would be advantageous
  • Exposure to military, emergency services, government or related sectors would be beneficial
  • Experience coordinating events, training programmes or group-based activities would be helpful
  • Relevant qualifications such as first responder, medical, firefighting or personal training are welcomed but not essential
  • Right to work in the UK and strong, verifiable references
