A talented and driven Sous Chef is required to join a busy, high-quality production kitchen supporting a leading London-based catering company. This is a fast-paced workplace catering operation focused on delivering exceptional food standards across a variety of corporate clients. The company is a B Corp-certified catering business with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and creating thoughtfully prepared food using fresh ingredients.
The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring consistently high standards across all areas of production. This role would suit a candidate with previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Senior Chef de Partie looking to step up within a structured and supportive kitchen environment.
Working days are Monday to Thursday and Sunday, with Friday and Saturday off, amounting to 45 hours per week. The position offers a fantastic work-life balance within a professional and team-oriented environment. Candidates with previous experience within workplace catering, contract catering, or event catering environments would be highly advantageous. A strong understanding of nutrition, allergens, and dietary requirements is also highly desirable, along with any relevant food safety qualifications or certifications.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Overseeing food preparation and ensuring consistency and quality across production
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, health, and safety
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and supplier management
- Helping manage kitchen schedules and team organisation
- Training, mentoring, and supporting junior kitchen staff
- Ensuring allergen procedures and food safety standards are followed
- Assisting with menu development and seasonal dish planning
- Monitoring food waste and supporting cost-control initiatives
- Stepping into leadership responsibilities in the Head Chef's absence
Essential criteria:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie experience
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards
- Ability to lead calmly and effectively within a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
