We have an excellent opportunity for a career Housekeeper/Cook seeking a long-term position within a supportive and well-run household, offering stability, structure, and a positive working environment. Occupied by a professional UHNW family who balance busy family life with high-level entertaining, the home is both a private sanctuary and a space for hosting important professional guests, requiring consistently high standards of presentation, organisation, and service.
The successful candidate will work closely with the House Manager and alongside another housekeeper, taking a leading role in maintaining this large 5-bedroom home and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of household operations. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with strong experience in high-end private households, who is confident taking ownership of their responsibilities, particularly across laundry, wardrobe management, and general household organisation. A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, as well as the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of a dynamic household.
Preparing breakfast for the family in the mornings, as well as some light lunches from time to time, you should be a confident cook who is comfortable preparing family-style meals. The family have dogs, so being pet friendly and happy to assist with pet care is of essence. The working hours are from 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, so offers an excellent work/life balance. This is a live-out position, so well suited to candidates based within 45 minutes of Central London to ensure a fuss-free morning commute.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Maintaining the property to exceptional standards, ensuring all areas are clean, organised, and well presented
- Leading on laundry and wardrobe management, including washing, ironing (with a strong focus on shirts), steaming, and care of delicate and specialist garments
- Ensuring wardrobes are meticulously organised, with all items correctly stored and maintained
- Carrying out basic garment repairs and liaising with specialist dry cleaners when required
- Preparing and serving breakfast for the family on weekday mornings
- Assisting with light cooking when required, including simple meals for the principals or guests
- Supporting with formal and informal service when the family are entertaining
- Assisting with packing and unpacking, ensuring belongings are prepared and organised to a high standard
- Monitoring household supplies and liaising with the House Manager to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Supporting with dog care including morning walks, feeding, and general care
- Assisting with flower arranging and plant care as required
- Running errands and supporting general household organisation
- Supporting the wider team during busy periods or staff absence
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience working as a Housekeeper/Cook (at least 7-10 years) within UHNW or high-end private households
- Exceptional laundry and ironing skills, with confidence caring for luxury garments and fabrics
- Strong organisational skills with a meticulous eye for detail
- Experience working in homes with valuable art, antiques, and high-end finishes
- Confident, proactive, and able to take ownership of responsibilities
- Positive and collaborative team player with a flexible approach
- Well-presented, discreet, and professional at all times
- Comfortable with dog care and working in a family home environment
- Strong understanding of sustainable and careful household practices
- London-based & have the right to live and work in the UK
