Role Overview
The Dental Nurse will provide clinical and administrative support to dentists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons during surgical and dental procedures, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists, oral surgeons and clinicians during dental and surgical procedures.
- Prepare clinical rooms, surgical equipment and instruments before procedures.
- Prepare patients for treatment and provide appropriate support and reassurance.
- Assist with dental extractions and oral surgery procedures, including procedures under local or general anaesthetic where required.
- Act as a scrub nurse during surgical procedures where appropriately trained and competent.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
- Clean, disinfect and sterilise instruments and surgical equipment.
- Ensure clinical rooms are fully stocked and prepared for each list.
- Record and maintain accurate patient and clinical documentation.
- Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding and infection-control policies.
- Dispose of clinical and surgical waste safely and correctly.
- Provide appropriate post-operative support to patients.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary dental and surgical team.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant Dental Nursing qualification and GDC registration, where applicable.
- Previous experience working as a Dental Nurse in a dental, oral surgery or maxillofacial setting.
- Surgical/oral surgery experience is desirable.
- Good knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
- Availability to work weekday and weekend shifts depending on service requirements.
- 12 Months NHS Experience in substantive role
