This 12-week fixed-term Dental Nurse post sits with 18 Week Support Limited, which runs insourcing surgical lists to help NHS waiting list initiatives. The role gives chairside and clerical support to dentists and oral surgeons, covering tooth extractions and wider oral surgery, and includes preparing patients, rooms and instruments. Weekday and weekend availability is wanted, and the work is centred on surgical lists. Fit depends on GDC registration and recent hands-on NHS dental nursing experience.
What the job involves
- Provide chairside and clerical support to dentists, oral surgeons and clinical teams
- Assist with dental extractions, oral surgery and clinical procedures
- Prepare patients, clinical rooms, equipment and instruments for treatment
- Provide patient reassurance and pre- and post-operative support
- Maintain high standards of infection control, clinical safety and patient confidentiality
- Support patient care pathways
Qualifications
- Relevant dental nursing qualification
Registration & licences
- GDC registration as a Dental Nurse
Experience
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
- Recent NHS dental nursing experience, including at least 12 months in a substantive NHS role
- Recent hands-on experience in oral surgery and/or tooth extractions
- Experience in a dental, oral surgery or maxillofacial setting
Skills & knowledge
- Good knowledge of infection prevention and control and GDC standards
- Strong communication skills
- Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
