A reliable and experienced multi-skilled trades professional is required to deliver repairs, maintenance, and small works across a social housing portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a qualified plumber, carpenter, or plasterer with strong additional skills across general building maintenance, including tiling, plastering, painting & decorating, and flooring. This role is essential in ensuring safe, high-quality homes and delivering excellent service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plumbing repairs — Carry out repairs, installations, and maintenance across occupied and void properties.
  • Fault diagnosis — Identify and resolve leaks, blockages, heating issues, and sanitary ware defects.
  • Carpentry tasks including:
    • Boxing-in pipework
    • Fitting bath panels
    • Installing kitchen units or worktops
    • Door easing, adjustments, and minor joinery repairs
  • Multi-trade work including:
    • Tiling — splashbacks, small wall/floor areas, repairs
    • Plastering — patch plastering, small-area skimming
    • Painting & decorating — walls, ceilings, woodwork, touch-ups, full room refreshes
    • Flooring — vinyl, laminate, carpet tiles, minor sub-floor preparation
  • General property maintenance tasks
  • Ensure all work meets safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate job records using digital job management systems.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet service targets.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours rota where required.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Plumbing, Carpentry, plastering or a related trade.
  • Proven experience in domestic or social housing environments.
