The Role
As Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting technical product development activities throughout the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading new and existing product development projects, including design, testing and implementation
- Evaluating new product ideas and supporting feasibility and industrialisation activities
- Working closely with engineering, production, sales and marketing teams to develop technical specifications and solutions
- Managing product testing, experimentation and data analysis using internal and external testing services
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and product enhancements
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, design control processes and risk management activities including DFMEA
- Managing multiple projects to agreed timescales and budgets
- Producing technical documentation, reports and benchmarking analysis
- Providing technical support to internal teams and customers
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- A qualification in an engineering discipline
- Previous experience within a product development or design engineering role
- Experience working within manufacturing or engineering environments
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining methodologies and engineering practices
- Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to work effectively across multiple departments and manage competing priorities
- A proactive and innovative approach to engineering and product development
