If you’re a mechanical engineer or manufacturing systems engineer and looking to build your career that will give you both technical and commercial capability and experience, this one’s for you. This role will see you working directly with customers on developing and delivering commercial bids and proposals. You’ll take detailed product specifications and work out the best and most efficient production routes, BOM’s and material costs. This role touches on product design, sales, production and supply chain. Given the breadth of exposure the future career routes could see you move into any of these areas, giving you much broader future opportunities. It will also make you more ‘valuable’.

Please note, this is not the role for you if you are focussed on mechanical or product design only.

To be considered for this role you’ll need:

  • A completed Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree or apprenticeship
  • Some experience/exposure of production environments
  • A desire and ability to communicate with customers on the phone as well as email – on the phone is where the relationships are built.
  • A curiosity to understand broader business challenges and how a business operates financially.

What’s in it for you: Beyond a chance to increase your market value and the broad career opportunities you’ll be working in an SME where you’ll be exposed to more than a typical grad programme within a large PLC. The salary on offer is good and you’ll also have access to training and development events in a number of different areas. Finally, while this is an SME business, you’ll have access to a network of professionals who are actively wanting to share their knowledge and expertise.
