Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Rate: £15.00 per hour

Overview: I am a 45-year-old professional with a dynamic range of experiences—including English teaching/lecturing, freelance writing, advice and guidance work, and DJing in the jungle drum and bass/techno scenes. I live with invisible disabilities such as ADHD, autism, chronic musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and related mental health challenges. Although these challenges are dynamic and not always immediately visible, they require understanding, sensitivity, and reliability from the right support professional. This role is designed for someone who can provide robust administrative, technological, and advocacy support to help me regain pace and maintain my independence.

I need you to work when you’re here, even though I won’t be. I have LCWRA because of hidden disabilities, so my day doesn’t have to be built around work or particular goals. It’s about acting as my arms to wash up or as my attention span and patience during a phone call, reminding me to eat and drink water, improving my quality of life by helping me to live it at my own pace, according to my own values: working class atheist, childfree, not spiritual, not traditional, former English teacher and freelance writer, currently run events and DJ when able to.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide robust administrative support for daily tasks.
  • Handle phone calls and scheduling.
  • Assist with cleaning and light housework.
  • Advocate on my behalf to ensure needs are met.
  • Help manage daily life organization, including reminders to eat and stay hydrated.
  • Work 8 to 10 hours in person and 2 to 4 hours remote admin/prompting tasks.
  • Adapt to the varying needs dictated by my invisible disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and respond to complex English language requirements.
  • Permission to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Comfortable with flexible working days and times as outlined in the schedule.
  • Willingness to follow clear instructions and maintain professionalism within a supportive dynamic.
  • Subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references if offered the role.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
