Female Personal Assistant Required – Northeast England – Full-time £30,200 per year – Driver required. Rolling recruitment – applications are welcome from candidates that are unable to start for several months, as finding the right person for the role is imperative.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent salaried position working a 28-day rota with 7 days actively working, 7 days on call (acting as first reserve for staff sickness and 2:1 support) and 14 days completely off.
Salary: £30,200 per year, paid monthly in arrears covering your on-duty and on-call time. Overtime worked when on call is paid in addition to your salary.
About the role: Emma is a power chair user who requires assistance to live independently in her own home and to undertake her demanding yet rewarding role at a large environmental charity, with frequent travel across the UK and occasionally Europe. This job involves direct work with Emma, both at and away from home. This includes but is not limited to, assisting with personal care and domestic tasks, helping to facilitate travel and work life, and supporting with exercise and volunteering events. Your role is to provide Emma with flexible support in order that she can live the life she chooses. Emma doesn’t have a routine life, nor does she want one!
This is an exciting, varied position with no experience in care required; many other skills and experiences can be valuable for this role. The role is best suited to friendly, respectful and open-minded individuals, who are extremely reliable and have the excellent communication skills required to provide Emma with attentive yet unobtrusive assistance.
The job is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and open to anyone within 4 hours travel of the city.
Shift Details: Shifts run on a 28-day rota which consists of 7 working days (split across two shifts of 3.5 days), 7 available days and 14 days off. Working shifts entail being the main PA for 3.5 consecutive days/nights based at Emma’s home or travelling with her. Full training provided. When you are on duty you will be based at Emma’s home as well as travelling with her for work and leisure. You will be able to sleep during the night when on duty. Your ‘on-call’ time will be spent at your own home or place of your choosing as long as you can reach Newcastle upon Tyne within 4 hours and are under the drink-drive limit.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, with interviews and paid trial shifts being offered as soon as practicable after a promising application is received. You may apply even if you are not available to start for several months, as finding the right person for the role is imperative.
This position is only open to people who identify as women due to the personal care element of the job and is a genuine occupational requirement. This is in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule 9.
A driver aged over 21 with a clean licence is required for this role (those with an automatic only licence are welcome to apply). At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
