Do you like festivals and travel? Would you like to combine this with work as a Personal Assistant (PA)? I’m seeking to recruit experienced Personal Assistants (PAs) – women only – to provide personal and domestic support to me when I go to festivals and other trips away. I use a powered wheelchair and have an adapted campervan and want PAs who can both drive and support me on these adventures!

Rates of pay:

  • Daytime (7am-11pm) £14.50 per hour
  • Overnight (11pm-7am) £108.00 flat rate

All expenses in relation to the role will be paid, including travel, entrance to events, food and drink – in fact everything except travel to and from my home in Newcastle. Basically, the post is to drive my van and provide me with support. The main duties include providing personal care, e.g. assisting to go to the toilet, showering, dressing/undressing, stoma care and domestic tasks (e.g. cooking and shopping). Staying in confined spaces (campervan) requires people to be physically fit.

Each PA will be required to do a complete trip away, a maximum of 7 days. Festivals tend to be between May and September but outside these months there may be other opportunities. You are not expected to stay awake overnight but the nature of festivals and trips is that there will be late nights and late mornings so PAs need to be adaptable, flexible and have a sense of fun. Sometimes I travel with a friend or 2nd PA.

If you wish to apply, please send a CV with details of your PA experience and a short statement why you are interested in these posts.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4. This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
