Hours:

  • Monday: 5.30 to 8.30, Monday Night Social
  • Tuesday: 4.14 to 7.15, Rebound Therapy
  • Wednesday: 4.15 to 7.45, Swimming (this shift is usually covered but cover may be needed occasionally)
  • Saturday: 10.30 to 4.30

Shifts may change so a degree of flexibility is needed. There are also 3x 5 hour shifts in school holidays, usually 10 to 3, days to be negotiated.

Driver: Desirable, though non-drivers will be considered if prepared to take our son out on public transport.

Rates of Pay: £14.00 per hour

Meet Jacob – a sociable 14-year-old who loves great company and getting out into the world! Whether he’s at a local disco, bouncing through rebound therapy, or soaking up the sun at the seaside – Jacob is happiest when he’s on the move and surrounded by people. We’re looking for two awesome support workers (you’ll be working 2:1) to help Jacob continue doing what he loves in a safe and supported way.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting Jacob at fun events like discos and social clubs
  • Splashing around at swimming and helping with rebound therapy
  • Going on Saturday adventures to parks, markets, beaches, and the odd café for a treat
  • Helping with transitions between activities and offering reassurance when things change
  • Communicating clearly and kindly – Jacob is nonverbal but understands everything and responds brilliantly to supported instructions

A Bit About Jacob:

  • Diagnosed with Autism and a learning disability
  • Nonverbal but expressive, engaged, and communicative in his own way
  • Loves being part of the action – happy, social and curious
  • Enjoys structure but can adapt with the right support

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Warm, patient
  • Confident supporting children or young people with additional needs (training can be provided)
  • Someone who enjoys being active and social – disco shoes optional but encouraged!
  • Bonus points if you like markets, seaside chips, or a walk in the park
