A leading Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join their growing team in London. This is a permanent position with an immediate start available, focused primarily on delivering high-spec residential projects across Greater London.
You will play a critical role in bridging the gap between design and delivery, ensuring electrical systems are designed, verified, and installed to the highest standards. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading design verification efforts, coordinating with external consultants, and managing M&E subcontractors on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee electrical design across multiple residential sites, from early-stage development to completion.
- Perform electrical calculations for design verification to ensure compliance with current standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, and internal teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Manage and coordinate M&E subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to spec.
- Review and comment on third-party electrical design documentation (schematics, layouts, load schedules).
- Assist with technical submissions, value engineering proposals, and procurement processes.
- Support project teams with technical issues throughout the construction phase.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and design audits as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Manager or Senior Electrical Engineer within a main contractor or M&E contractor.
- Strong knowledge of electrical building services within the residential sector.
- Ability to carry out electrical design calculations and verification (e.g., cable sizing, load assessments, fault level calculations).
- Familiarity with BS7671, CIBSE guidelines, and relevant building regulations.
- Proficient with design tools and software such as Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD, or Revit (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and management skills – able to lead meetings and liaise confidently with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Right to work in the UK.
