As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing. That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Reward Business Partner to join us on a 12-month FTC to support the transformation of Reward across select business areas. This is a high-impact role combining deep compensation expertise with strong commercial acumen, where you’ll partner closely with operational leaders and finance to design and deliver competitive, performance-led reward frameworks. Operating in a complex and talent-scarce market, you’ll help shape a proposition that attracts, retains, and motivates colleagues while aligning closely to business outcomes. You’ll lead the development of fair and market-aligned pay structures, including base salary, incentives and bonus frameworks, supported by robust benchmarking and analysis. Working collaboratively with People Business Partners and stakeholders, you’ll bring clarity, structure and innovation to reward, helping to build sustainable and competitive offerings across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commercially focused, fair and competitive compensation structures, including base salary, incentives, bonuses and share plans.
  • Apply a strong commercial lens, building deep understanding of business areas and performance drivers to align reward with outcomes and profitability.
  • Partner with operational leaders, finance and People Business Partners to design commercially driven reward solutions that ensure offerings are competitive, supporting attraction, retention, and motivation of colleagues.
  • Lead market benchmarking and pay analysis, balancing external competitiveness with internal affordability and strategic priorities.
  • Analyse reward data to generate insight, identify trends and provide clear, commercially grounded recommendations.
  • Optimise reward spend by developing cost-effective compensation and benefits strategies while maintaining an attractive employee value proposition.

About you

You bring strong, hands-on expertise in Reward, with deep specialism in compensation and a proven track record of designing and delivering effective pay structures, including incentive and bonus frameworks. You combine deep reward knowledge with commercial insight, understanding how pay decisions drive business performance and outcomes. You have strong experience in market analysis, pay benchmarking and navigating regulatory requirements within compensation and benefits. You are highly analytical, confident working with complex reward data and HRIS systems to generate clear, actionable insights. You are an effective communicator and collaborator, able to influence stakeholders and partner across finance, operations and people teams. You are organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining discretion with sensitive information.

Reward & benefits

A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, car allowance, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave. Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
