About the Role

We are hiring for a Scientific Editor! In this role you will play a critical role in ensuring a high‑quality, efficient, and integrity‑driven peer review process for journals within the Computer Science or related subject areas. You will handle manuscripts through the peer review process and secure high‑quality peer review reports to support the journal Editor‑in‑Chief and Editors. Working closely with the Editor‑in‑Chief, Handling Editors and the Publisher, this role will include pro‑actively managing the peer‑review pipeline, identifying challenges, providing solutions, and ensuring seamless communication throughout the editorial workflow. You will be key in supporting journal development, protecting editorial standards, and upholding the journal’s reputation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Secure high‑quality peer reviewers for specific manuscripts
  • Identify and invite appropriate peer reviewers to ensure timely delivery of reviewer reports
  • Assess and make editorial triage decisions on new submissions for suitability to the journal as required
  • Monitor the peer review pipeline and support external Editors with decisions as needed
  • Manage the implementation of new policies into the journal workflow as they pertain to peer‑reviewing
  • Cooperate with other departments (Production, Journal Editorial Office) for applicable journal related issues
  • Maintain communication with Editors on time‑sensitive tasks and manuscript progress
  • Uphold journal reputation through strong policy adherence, ethical standards, and consistency across key editorial stages
  • Contribute to process improvements and participate in ad hoc projects aligned with journal strategy and growth

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a peer reviewer or author is advantageous
  • Journal publication history preferred
  • Demonstrable experience working within a research or professional environment preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning ability
  • Customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the scientific research community and its needs
  • Understanding of Open Access publishing is desirable
  • Educated to master’s level as a minimum in a Computer Science subject area
