Expedia Group seeks a media expert to join the Strategy & Integrated Planning & Agency Management team. This role owns the end-to-end media process in the UK, France, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway for Expedia Group brands. You will act as the market media lead, oversee media agency relationships, and partner with the in-house digital team to develop local strategies, plans, and executions that deliver against brand and business objectives. You will brief the local media agency on campaign requirements and ensure local market strategies align with global media direction. The role integrates the in-house digital team into the strategy and planning process to ensure cohesive, connected, and measured activity across channels. You will be responsible for the flawless execution, optimization, and reporting of media activity, and for representing the market in global workstreams. The role collaborates with the Sponsorships team to maximize reach and impact of the brand investment and with the Strategy, Insight & Optimisation team to place data, evidence, and experimentation at the heart of plans, with clear measurement frameworks and learning agendas that drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Agency partnership: Manage day-to-day and strategic relationship with the local media agency, including senior leadership engagement. Define expectations on ways of working, escalation paths, and decision rights. Foster a high-performance partnership, address issues proactively, and ensure the agency is engaged early and throughout the process. Define and agree KPIs with the agency aligned to the brand measurement framework; hold the agency accountable for delivery, optimization, and results. Oversee management of agency invoices, accruals, and non-working costs for the market.
  • Integrated media strategy & planning: Supervise the agency’s development of local market media strategies and channel plans that align with global media strategies. Input tactical recommendations from in-house digital channel leads and ensure plans integrate with agency outputs. Ensure the in-house digital team is embedded in the strategy and planning process. Review and challenge media strategies to ensure they are insight-led, evidence-based, and effective. Manage the provision of specs and deliverables for agency-managed media channels.
  • Market leadership & cross-functional collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact and voice of the market. Surface local opportunities and updates. Represent the market in relevant forums and working groups, involving channel specialists as needed. Work with Sponsorships to ensure integrated media and sponsorship activity.
  • Execution, measurement & optimization: Oversee end-to-end in-market media planning and activation, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to briefs, and quality standards. Remove blockers, ensure robust measurement strategies, translate reporting into insights and actionable recommendations, and drive test-and-learn agendas with learnings shared across markets.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in a media-related role within an agency or client team.
  • Established understanding of media agency operations and knowledge of media market dynamics; broad understanding of media channel capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong consultative and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence at all levels.
  • Assertive with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple assignments and drive them to completion.
