Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Vision: Organize the strategic vision into key themes that solve both short‑term and long‑term traveler, partner, and business needs. Take a lead role in detailing a multi‑quarter roadmap, articulating key themes, milestones, and trade‑offs through a compelling narrative that resonates across senior leadership and cross‑functional teams. Balance short‑term and long‑term business considerations with product decisions and partner with Finance to set incremental revenue targets. Drive innovation within the platform, exploring new use‑cases and experiences that increase customer confidence and drive metric improvement.
- Customer, Market & Commercial Insight: Reference detailed market research and competitive analysis (customer segmentation, market sizing, partner needs) to inform strategy and roadmap. Clearly define the value proposition of the product through competitive analysis and/or understanding of customer pain points. Develop testable hypotheses that address industry and regulatory needs and drive performance outcomes; use experimentation to validate direction. Identify friction in the traveler journey (from discovery through post‑trip servicing) and recommend customer‑centric product and UX solutions to increase understanding, trust, and conversion.
- Data, Experimentation & AI/ML: Facilitate integration of AI/ML into product functionality (e.g., personalization, pricing support, or servicing flows) by leveraging an understanding of model development (data collection and processing, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring). Independently design product experiments, gather and analyze product data, draw insights, and make informed decisions; engage Data Analytics teams where deeper analysis is needed. Define new metrics, dashboards, and data sources to monitor the health of the product (e.g., attach rate, conversion, NPS/CSAT) and drive regular metric reviews that lead to concrete actions.
- Execution & Delivery: Leverage understanding of technical architecture to ensure decisions address product requirements and adjust designs to account for dependent systems. Effectively prioritize initiatives and features using a data‑informed framework that incorporates business impact, risk, customer value, and effort. Own product requirements documentation (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) leveraging Expedia Group's standard toolkit; ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment to outcomes. Collaborate closely with engineering to break down user stories, identify and manage dependencies, and ensure predictable delivery against roadmap commitments. Facilitate alignment between engineering, design, operations, and partner teams by ensuring product goals and success measures are clearly articulated and visually represented. Create and interpret product experiments in partnership with UX and data teams to deliver platform value.
- Stakeholder Leadership & Communication: Develop the ability to influence without formal authority, earning trust with peer leaders, functional partners, and external stakeholders. Encourage the team to achieve operational excellence, acting as a motivating and stabilizing force during planning, delivery, and incident response. Communicate effectively up, down, and across the organization, using data, insights, and storytelling to tailor messages to executives, cross‑functional partners, and regional stakeholders. Demonstrate a proven track record of clearly and persuasively articulating product concepts, strategies, and decisions to cross‑functional teams and, where appropriate, to partners and customers.
