Whether it’s honing your skills or building your network, we know that success can’t come without growth. Our programmes equip you with the knowledge and training you need to play a valuable role on your team and establish a long-term career here. At Citi, we value internal mobility and career growth is not a question of if, but when.

In Citi’s Equities Technology group you will work on global projects responsible for Equity Trading solutions for the business. You will be central to the definition and implementation of our Equities Cash and derivatives trading platforms whilst working alongside software developers, data scientists, product owners and scrum masters using cutting edge technologies and techniques. These platforms allow business and operations users to execute and manage trading for Equities and also allow traders to view risk profiles. It will also interact with regulatory and compliance businesses.

We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed. We’re committed to teaching you the ropes and then some. During the programme, you will study for a BSc (Hons) Financial Technology Apprenticeship qualification. Aside from your peer group and manager, you will have a buddy and a dedicated programme manager. You will have access to first class technical and business training from a well-established team, plus Citi’s online training portal.

Side by side job shadowing and coaching with your team will be combined with the opportunity to work with the Equities business in one of the world’s largest investment banks. You will gain valuable insight into the workings within technology teams and how they deliver for various functions within the bank, in this case, the Equities Technology function. You will have exposure to new and cutting-edge technologies plus the opportunity to experience different types of technology roles across the full life cycle from gathering business requirements through analysis, product and project management, software development, quality control and release management.

Your Day will look something like this: Assignments change each year based on the business needs of the teams. Below are some examples:

  • Product Management – using business knowledge to assist with data analysis, coordinating and documenting requirements gathering; liaising with developers, testers, and other technology teams to translate business requirements into technology deliverables.
  • Project and Scrum Management – coordinating projects and participating in daily stand ups; liaising with developers, testers, and other technology teams throughout project lifecycles and working with a global and diverse range of people and systems across multiple business and technology units.
  • Software Development - Apprentices will have the opportunity to contribute to writing Surveillance applications that aim to detect instances of market abuse that may occur in Citi's trading activities. You will learn to write clean, testable code that can be easily maintained by other developers in future.
  • Software Quality Engineering - Apprentices will have the opportunity to conduct a variety of quality engineering and test automation to ensure that applications meet or exceed specified standards and end-user requirements.
  • DevOps and Release Management - Your development peers will be writing the application code for new functionality, but our release management team decide if it can be released into our live systems or not. You will support the deployment and scheduling of the applications to ensure regulations are met. With strong change management techniques, we help to protect the live systems from unnecessary harm and keep our platforms stable.
  • Organisational and operational efficiency improvements - Nobody likes to repeat the same actions every day and click the same buttons, so our apprentices get involved in efficiency improvements to see where tasks can be automated or streamlined to free their time to get involved in exciting projects!

Qualifications: We want to hear from you if you have 5 GCSEs including Maths with a minimum grade B/C (or equivalent) and English Language with a minimum grade C (or equivalent). You have A level grades BCC including A level Maths (or equivalent) or A level grades BBC without A level Maths (or equivalent).
