About the role

The Senior Business Analyst is an intermediate‑level position responsible for liaising between business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.

In this role you will be required to participate in the complete spectrum of SDLC, closely working with business users, engineers, QA and support teams to create a technology product vision and roadmap and ensure its delivery on time and to budget. As part of our global technology team, you will be working with a group of passionate product owners and engineers who work on building simple and effective solutions to solve complex business problems. This role is for someone who is a strong analyst with good organizational skills and enjoys solving complex business and process challenges; has experience in building robust and high‑quality solutions, has excellent communication skills and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for complex projects and foster communication between business leaders and IT.
  • Consult with users and clients to solve complex system issues and problems through in-depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards and recommend solutions.
  • Support system change processes from requirements through implementation and provide input based on analysis of information.
  • Consult with business clients to determine system functional specifications and provide user and operational support.
  • Identify and communicate risks and impacts, considering business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
  • Act as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts and work as a team to achieve business objectives, performing other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.
  • Act as SME to senior stakeholders and/or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Align with the vision for the team’s product and maintain the cohesive vision throughout the SDLC process; create a product roadmap based on this vision.
  • Manage the product backlog and prioritize tasks based on challenging and often competing requirements.
  • Work with the wider product team and end users to deliver updates and status reports and actively participate in all scrum activities and product sprints.

Qualifications

  • Experience in product companies as product owner or senior business analyst.
  • Experience delivering strategic change programs spanning multiple years in a fast‑paced, financial product company.
  • Adept in agile practices and strong ability to develop, manage and continuously prioritize backlog.
  • Product knowledge of Margin & collateral, OTC Derivatives or payments flows or related domain is a plus.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add product impact to both strategic and tactical technology.
  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, with demonstrated success interacting with senior management in the business, corporate functions, and the Operations and Technology environments.
  • Strong risk management and control mindset.
  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources.
  • Self‑reliant, good problem solver, results oriented.
  • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
  • Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.
  • Ability to conceptualize aspects of the organization’s model and its future development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis.
  • Experience with all phases of Software Development Life Cycle and agile practices for software development and delivery.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of business analysis.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree.
