Team/Role Overview
This senior leadership role is responsible for defining and executing the global strategy for the firm's Core Banking Integration platforms. You will lead a large, globally distributed technology organization and manage a significant budget to deliver the next generation of core banking technology services. The team's purpose is to manage Citi’s Global Core Banking Platforms that form the very backbone of our capabilities, and drive a series of large-scale, core banking technology programs that are fundamental to the bank's revenue growth, operational resilience, and regulatory commitments. On a day-to-day basis, you will partner with senior stakeholders across Business, Operations, Finance, and Risk to shape the future of the firm's Services business. This is a highly visible team, pivotal in spearheading the modernization of legacy platforms and delivering best-in-class engineering standards.
What you’ll do
- As the Global Head of Core Banking Integration Platforms, you will be responsible for driving the team’s strategic vision and ensuring flawless execution of its commitments.
- Spearhead the ongoing DDA (Demand Deposit Account) transformation, building and delivering cloud native, 24x7, microservices based platforms to unlock significant revenue growth and deliver a resilient, high-throughput service.
- Provide global leadership for core banking integration platforms supporting critical business capabilities across payment processing, loans processing, onboarding, earmarking, liquidity management and more, ensuring smooth business operations across 90+ markets.
- Direct the strategy for decommissioning legacy core banking platforms, ensuring alignment with major institutional modernisation programs across Finance, Services and Markets.
- Assume full accountability for an annual technology budget for the global core banking integration platforms and lead a globally distributed organization of ~200 professionals.
- Lead complex, cross-functional design initiatives in the context of core banking to solve enterprise-level challenges, aligning senior stakeholders across the firm.
- Champion and enforce engineering excellence, driving the adoption of key standards and tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement and a robust risk and control environment.
- Actively adopt cutting-edge technologies, including Agentic AI, to identify and implement use cases that deliver substantial cost savings and efficiency gains.
What we’ll need from you
- We are looking for a senior leader with a proven track record of delivering transformational change within a complex, global financial services environment.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale, global technology organizations and multi-million dollar budgets.
- A proven track record of successfully delivering major, multi-year core banking and payments transformation programs from strategy through to execution.
- Deep subject matter expertise in legacy and modern core banking platforms, payment processing systems, DDA platforms, and the account management lifecycle.
- Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholders (MD/Director level) and external vendors, with a history of navigating difficult conversations to achieve the right outcome for the firm.
- Strong understanding of modern technology stacks and architecture patterns, including microservices, cloud-native development, and API-driven integration.
- Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and build consensus across diverse, senior groups.
- A strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen, able to link technology investment to tangible business value.
